Crab-picking, playing football in the rain, sitting on the front porch watching it rain, eating more crab, good friends, 40's, music and more crab picking. All included in the best Memorial Day I've ever experienced. I couldn't have asked for more.

An Old Poem

He turned letters to words with gentle hands.
And then an empty mattress lined the hardwood floor.

When I remember loneliness in small cities,
I see brick lined walks with families and full tables.

There’s a wall with hope written in languages of mingled letters.
There’s tea and music and book lined walls.

But I found, folded on wooden floors, skin like paper creased into fragile objects.

Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits

Simon sits at the plaza

In Barcelona

He spoke with a lisp

Then

Simon said Emilia would come

That night She didn't.

Simon says

He feels desolate

And drowned

By the smoke; he is a smoker.

He says it gets in his eyes

And his beer.

It is like golden nectar .

He says the walks home are nice.

He lives on 59th street.

It must be silent so late at night

Only sounds of

Rain

And two feet

Landing-

Pit- pat, pit- pat

Emilia came over the other night.

She Knocked three times

He finally let her in.

-She says he's like a rock.

She wanted to go to the fair

Some thyme

He'll probably stay home.

Simon told Emilia

He wouldn't mind if she stayed.

Simon loves Emilia.

In America they would survive.

Simon wants to stay.

Emilia will be distracted.

Simon says he doesn't understand

Emilia

Says they are not in Mexico

Mexican is not a language.

Emilia has a lisp.

Simon writes the ends of books.

Says the beginnings are boring

The middles are discouraging.

Big Black Nothing

It appears it's been several months since anyone's posted anything on here. It's been a busy couple of months though. Spring has sprung. Exams have come and gone. New experiences and opportunities have presented themselves, the Michael Scott Paper Company succeeded and failed, the DTV transition has occurred? And John Townsend Sutton owns his very own laptop.

I've been working a lot, staying busy. I feel tired most days, especially those in which I work both jobs, but I'm also filled with an energy that keeps me going. Maybe it's because the weather is getting warmer, or that I feel more financially stable, or maybe it's because Alex is back in my life. We've both changed a lot. I wouldn't have noticed it had we not been apart for basically two years now, but I can definitely feel it. We feel more settled, more at peace. And, just like last time, he makes me feel normal.

My plan for teaching is in full swing and everything is planned out. All I have to do is keep my focus and push on through until this time next year, I'll be a teacher...well, an out-of-work teacher. But I'll be certified to teach.

For now, it's a rainy Monday morning. I'm sitting at the coffee shop, watching all the regular customers come and go, satisfied with their coffees and pastries. Bonnaroo is in 30 days. Summer vacation is right around the corner and everything is looking up.

Michael Scott Quote: What is more important than quality? Equality.
